Katie helps birth parents and adoptive parents create forever families. A former federal litigator, Katie made child welfare and family formation law her focus after she adopted and fostered children. Prior to creating Katie Jay, P.A., Katie served as the director of operations and legal services for an adoption agency. Katie has also represented the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families as a senior prosecutor in Miami, where she prosecuted child abuse, abandonment and neglect cases.
Katie has been published in the Wall Street Journal and is a regular speaker and trainer. As a Fellow of the Academy of Adoption & Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, Katie is recognized by colleagues as a leader in advocating for child-centered policies and a highly vetted, experienced adoption attorney.
Katie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Texas and her Juris Doctor from Maurer School of Law at Indiana University.
